CDs Cling to Life Print E-mail

The CD refuses to die.
More songs will be downloaded than played on CD by 2012, earning 20% more money.
Downloads will bring $4.8 billion into music industry coffers.
 
  • In 2011, half of all music sold in the US will be sold over a wire.
Kodak says the best CDs will will not degrade for 200 years, TDK says 100 years.
Microfilm will last for 500 years, except in tropical climates, where it decays faster than a CD.
